Job description

Are you driven by a passion to help children? Are you someone who can administer medications to children as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established medication administration procedures?

If yes, Lakemary is looking for a Medication Technician PRN for our Children's Nursing Department. In this role you will work as a medication aide who has successfully completed a training program approved by Lakemary Center and has an acceptable score on the written and clinical examinations or possess a current Kansas Certified Medication Aide certificate. This role functions under general supervision of a Med Tech Lead and/or Nurse Practitioner.

Med Tech PRN Responsibilities:

  • Observes records & reports to the registered nurse on duty symptoms and conditions of children that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions or medication side effects.
  • Determines & records medication effectiveness in a timely & accurate manner as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Store medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with state & federal regulations.
  • Routinely inspects, cleans & monitors equipment and supplies to ensure child safety
  • Manage and/or provide direction to individuals served during crisis situations.

An ideal candidate for this position has:

  • Demonstrate awareness of proper infection control practices.
  • Ability to:
    • Weigh possible outcome and consults with others when needed.
    • Maintain strong relationships, while building rapport with individuals served.
    • Maintain appropriate records.
    • Communicate accurate and factual information clearly to children and staff.
    • Seek clarification from or refer questions to the registered nurse.

Med Tech PRN Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Be at least 18+ years of age

  • Starting pay: $ 16.50/hour
