Job description

We are actively seeking an experienced Project Manager - Commercial Solar & Energy Construction to lead commercial solar and energy infrastructure projects throughout the Santa Fe Springs and Greater Los Angeles market.

This role is heavily focused on utility coordination, permitting, field execution, and full project ownership within a commercial solar EPC/construction environment. The ideal candidate has direct experience managing commercial solar projects in Southern California and understands how to independently drive projects from planning through closeout without requiring extensive oversight.

This is not a coordinator-style role. We are looking for a hands-on project leader who can confidently manage technically complex projects involving utilities, AHJs, subcontractors, field teams, and clients in one of the nation's most active renewable energy markets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial solar and energy construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
  • Oversee permitting, utility coordination, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, and field execution activities
  • Interface directly with LADWP, Southern California Edison, AHJs, inspectors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain project momentum
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, electrical plans, specifications, and utility documentation to support successful project delivery
  • Lead project meetings, track schedules, and proactively resolve permitting, utility, and field issues before they impact timelines
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, installation teams, and vendors to ensure quality, safety, and production goals are achieved
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, closeout documentation, and project reporting
  • Independently drive project execution while helping eliminate operational bottlenecks
  • Monitor budgets, labor utilization, material flow, and overall project profitability

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience managing commercial solar, renewable energy, electrical, or EPC construction projects
  • Direct experience managing commercial solar projects within Southern California required
  • Strong LADWP experience highly preferred
  • Southern California Edison coordination experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working within a commercial EPC, energy contractor, or self-perform construction environment
  • Strong understanding of utility interconnection, permitting workflows, inspections, and AHJ coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical plans, and technical documentation
  • Proven project ownership experience managing schedules, field execution, permitting, and utility coordination
  • Residential-only project management experience will not be sufficient for this role
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or electrical background preferred
  • Experience with battery storage, EV infrastructure, or multifamily energy projects is a plus

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health insurance and benefits package
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off
  • Opportunity to lead impactful renewable energy projects across one of the country's fastest-growing solar markets
