Job Description
Ladd Dental Group has an immediate opening for a Dental Hygienist with any level of experience at our Greentown location. We are seeking someone who values relationship building with patients, giving the patients and peers a great experience, and working on a team!
Work days are Tuesday - Friday [preferred]. We offer very competitive compensation based on either an hourly rate, a percentage of collections, or a combination of both.
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Dental Hygienist implements appropriate standard of care therapy, assists a Dentist in providing hygiene, periodontal, or dental care and treatment, provides dental hygiene assessments, creates treatment plans based on the Dentist's diagnosis, and conducts oral and overall health care education and instruction to patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

TASKS
  • Assess patients' teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues indicating the presence of any abnormalities or suspected diseases or conditions.
  • Bring to the immediate attention of the dentist any suspected lesion in the mouth or on the teeth.
  • Thoroughly remove soft and hard deposits and extrinsic stain from teeth, using hand instruments, ultrasonic cavitron inserts and prophy handpieces.
  • Instruct patients how to practice good oral hygiene; make recommendations as to appropriate products or devices for patients' home care; and provide other health care education, as necessary.
  • Perform prophylaxis in the absence of periodontal disease or gingivitis.
  • Perform full mouth debridement, either as a first stage gingivitis therapy or to remove interfering calculus to further enable a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Perform root planning as a periodontal therapy.
  • Preform intraoral/extraoral x-rays.
  • Make recommendations as to patients' recare interval and follow-up needs.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned and allowed under applicable state laws and regulations.

POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position may be either a full-time or part-time position. Days and hours of work vary based on the schedules of the Dentist and needs of the practice.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene required (Bachelor's preferred)
  • Current state license required
  • Current Dental Hygiene Anesthetic permit required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work overtime, including weekends
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules
  • Current CPR certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time, and is frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Position requires adequate vision to perform job abilities including close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 35 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Most of the work is performed in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, multi-line telephone system, printers, scanners, fax machines, and photocopiers. Clinical staff may also interact with clinical instruments, sterilization equipment, and radiography machines. Some of the work may be performed at any of the Signet offices.
