They perform tasks such as preparing samples, operating laboratory equipment, recording data, and ensuring the accuracy of test results. Lab Techs play a crucial role in supporting scientists and medical professionals by maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment. Their work is essential for diagnosing diseases, conducting research, and ensuring quality control in various industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a laboratory tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Laboratory Tech, you need a solid understanding of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and safety protocols, usually backed by an associate’s degree or relevant certification. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), diagnostic instruments, and quality control procedures is essential.
