Job Description

Position Summary

The successful candidate will contribute in various research projects beginning during the Summer 2026 Co-op term, for a duration of 8 or 12 months. Please only apply if you are available for a minimum of 8 months.

The position supports laboratory operations by performing routine tests, maintaining equipment, assisting with laboratory projects, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions for analysis according to standard procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and experiments following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and relevant standards.
  • Accurately record and report test results in a timely manner.
  • Receive samples, record them in the database, and ensure timely shipment to the relevant plant after assessments
  • Follow all laboratory health and safety protocols and best practices and guidelines.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate work to maintain efficiency and ensure timely completion of laboratory tasks.
  • Coordinate with other technicians to complete tasks according to the planned schedule.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Support technicians and scientists in ongoing projects.
  • Perform any reasonable tasks and contribute to projects as directed by the manager to support laboratory operations.
Qualifications
  • Senior student in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Detail oriented and maintains organizational skills to support team tasks.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and analytical abilities in routine tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with the team.
  • Ability to occasionally lift materials between 25 - 50 lbs.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment is an asset.

Wage

  • $22/hour - $25/hour
