Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking an Asphalt Laboratory Technician to join our team in Burlington, ON.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting various laboratory tests on asphalt, aggregate, and concrete; must be certified or eligible for certification
  • Help with any other lab testing, as required
  • Preparing and reviewing laboratory testing results
  • Data management and quality control
  • Client liaison and reporting of test results
  • Heavy lifting of samples and equipment required
  • Expectation for some extended hours
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Skills / Qualifications

Required

  • CCIL Certified Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Laboratory Technician, or eligible for certification
  • Working knowledge and experience in testing and reporting asphalt results including both Marshall and Superpave
  • Ability to work some extended hours
  • Ability to lift heavy samples and equipment

Preferred

The following additional experience would be considered a strong benefit:

  • Supervision, mentoring, and training of laboratory materials testing staff
  • Exposure in laboratory certifications, equipment maintenance, and calibrations
  • Exposure in various required correlation and proficiency testing programs
  • Supporting update and maintenance of laboratory Quality Management System manuals
  • Supporting promotion and updating of laboratory safety protocols
