Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Labor & Employment Attorney to join our litigation team. The successful candidate will represent employers and employees in a broad range of labor and employment matters, with particular emphasis on wage and hour disputes, PAGA claims, discrimination cases, and related administrative hearings and trials. This role requires strong litigation experience, excellent writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to manage cases from intake through trial or resolution.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of labor and employment matters including PAGA, wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination claims.
  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery requests, correspondence and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and strategize for depositions and hearings.
  • Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings (such as DLSE), and court trials.
  • Perform legal research and provide written legal analysis and memoranda on statutory and case law developments affecting labor and employment law.
  • Develop case strategies, evaluate potential exposures and damages, and advise clients on risk management and settlement options.
  • Collaborate with partners, paralegals and outside counsel to coordinate litigation efforts and manage discovery, document review, and trial preparation.
  • Maintain client communication, provide regular case updates, and build strong client relationships through clear, practical and timely advice.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and support staff, including delegating tasks and reviewing work product.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with substantial litigation and trial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience handling PAGA and wage & hour claims, including class/representative actions and collective actions.
  • Proven litigation skills including drafting briefs and motions, taking and defending depositions, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Experience with administrative hearings and representation before agencies handling labor and employment matters.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, California Labor Code, FEHA, Title VII and related statutes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, legal research, and client counseling skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and as part of a team, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with mediation, settlement negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution techniques.
  • Prior trial experience and a track record of successful outcomes preferred.
