Job description

Primary Purpose: The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Science and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning invite applications for an off campus BIOL 120.3: The Nature of Life Lab Demonstrator based in Yorkton, SK at the Suncrest College campus during Term 1 of the 2026/2027 academic session from September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.


Nature or Work: This position reports to the Department Head of the Department of Biology. The stipend for this appointment is calculated at 6 hours in preparation and demonstration time for each of the 13 labs per section at a rate of 29.88 per hour.
Accountabilities: The lab demonstrator is responsible for preparing and demonstrating laboratory materials, setting up experiments, marking, invigilating examinations, delivering briefings, meeting with students (virtually and in person), moderating discussion boards, conferring with the USask Lab Coordinator and the BIOL 120 (C61) instructor, and other duties as required to foster student involvement through activities and discussions that are vibrant and engaging to facilitate positive student outcomes.
Education: A Master's degree or equivalent in Biology or related discipline and/or possession of relevant teaching or professional experience.
Skills: Effective leadership, communication and teaching skills; ability to effectively interact, motivate and build relationships with a diverse student population; demonstrated ability to deal with multiple priorities and effectively organize time in a self-directed manner; proficient computer applications and technology skills, including web-based course tool (Canvas Course Tools), word processing, email, internet, and other peripheral accessories and software programs.
