Job description
The Medical Laboratory Technician (Non-Certified) is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles basic issues and problems by following established processes and department procedures. The Medical Laboratory Technician (Non-certified) is beginning to develop working knowledge of technical subject matter. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan work and accomplish tasks.
- Performs routine tests on specimens in an accurate, organized, and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
- Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.
- Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
- Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
- Under direct supervision perform routine Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, Delta Checks, on laboratory equipment. Maintains inventory of supplies.
- Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
- Ensures input is accurate and complete.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: Associate of Science or completion of an official military medical laboratory training course + 2 years MLT experience.
- Experience: 0 years' experience.
- Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP_MLT or AMT_MLT).
