Job description

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Day Shift Lab Technician based out of our Humboldt facility. The Lab Technician is responsible for analyzing samples of cheese to ensure compliance to pre-established specifications. The lab tech will support all of the production lines while keeping GMP and Safety top priority.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test raw cheese product, document test results and calculate adjustments needed
  • Communicate with Cook operator(s) on adjustments needed based off Moisture, Fat, Salt, pH, Food Scan
  • Examine finished product using long method testing to verify compliance to recipe specifications
  • Gather samples to test for Coliform, Listeria, Salmonella, Yeast and Mold
  • Daily maintenance and preparation of stock and working chemicals.
  • Accurate documentation of test results and associated paperwork
  • Electronic data entry and communication of test results as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous Lab Tech experience is a plus
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent Math and Reading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Great telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties
  • Safe handling of chemicals and reagents
  • Successfully complete Split sample Test and On-Site Evaluation every 2 years for certification
  • Work as part of a team
  • Must adhere to and follow all Safety, GMP, other Quality guidelines
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
  • Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or their designated replacement

      Schedule:

      • Day Shift 5:00am to 5:00pm Mon-Fri and required to be available every other weekend for Pre-Operation Testing
