Job description

We have an immediate opening for an Analytical Lab Chemist at our Strasburg, OH location.

The Analytical Lab Chemist will be responsible for safely conducting routine and specialized chemical analysis, precisely following written work instructions (test methods) in order to generate accurate and timely results. The data generated will be legibly documented and will primarily support production needs.

What we are looking for in candidate:

We are looking for a candidate with at least one year of GMP lab experience with a college degree in Chemistry, or related Science degree. This candidate must have common knowledge of basic chemistry techniques and analytical testing and instrumentation. This candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot laboratory instruments and perform routine preventative maintenance. This candidate must have the ability to work extra hours, including some limited weekend work, when necessary to handle spikes in workload and meet deadlines is required. Candidates must be agile in adapting to and working in an ever changing, fast paced, and diverse production environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct routine analytical chemical testing on products submitted to the lab, this includes analysis of raw material, in process batches, finished goods or bulk samples, water samples, cleaning samples, stability samples, etc..
  • Conducts specialized analytical testing as directed by the Laboratory Manager, in support of development projects, new products, method troubleshooting or as part of Out of Specification investigations.
  • Properly documents all results according to Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instructions and review the work of other laboratory personnel as required.
  • Learns and practice all aspects of laboratory instrumentation, gas chromatography (GC), High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV/Visible Spectrophotometry, FTIR, etc.
  • Conducts analytical work in support of cleaning validations and engineering trials.
  • Compile and summarize data, when required.
  • Performs general housekeeping and glassware cleaning.
  • Communicate (verbally and written) with management, coworkers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Performs other assignments as requested by the Lab Manager.
  • Maintain and promote strong work ethics and uphold all KTP policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree with a strong emphasis in natural science.
  • Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business information, journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Must have excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Requires the strong organizational and time-management skills along with good attention to detail and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference as well as the ability to apply such concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Outlook, and statistical analysis software.
  • Troubleshoot instruments and analyses results.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with information.
