Job Description
This role manages the full operation of the Environmental Simulation (Performance) Lab, including technical staff leadership, revenue budget oversight, project coordination, equipment upkeep and calibrations, development of new or reinstated service offerings (including CAPEX proposals), and operational excellence. The manager will drive performance in a broad range of environmental testing services while supporting strategic growth in specialized Military, Defense, and Aerospace testing.
This position is based in the Baltimore Environmental Simulation Lab and requires hands-on leadership to maintain high standards of quality, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Environmental Simulation and Performance Lab Manager & Duties Include but are not Limited to the Following
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers on assigned and unassigned projects, providing expert support across commercial, industrial, and specialized Military/Aerospace testing needs.
  • Manage incoming Requests for Quotations (RFQs) from the National Sales Team, preparing accurate quotations or delegating tasks as needed, covering a wide spectrum of environmental simulation services.
  • Develop, review, and execute test plans and procedures in compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, MIL-STD-810, RTCA/DO-160), customer specifications, and internal protocols.
  • Mentor and provide on-floor technical oversight to Environmental Simulation Lab (ESL) Engineers and Technicians, promoting best practices in environmental testing for diverse product types.
  • Conduct tests according to established standards, ensuring accurate data collection and traceability for product certification and performance validation.
  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and functional verification of test equipment across all projects, upholding accreditation standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Perform quality assurance checks for the Environmental Simulation Lab, including internal audits and process improvements.
  • Interface with engineering staff, upper management, and cross-functional teams to deliver timely project status updates and insights.
  • Coordinate and deliver training for test technicians and engineers on environmental simulation methodologies and emerging standards.
  • Lead research efforts and capability assessments to identify and develop new testing services, with emphasis on expanding capabilities in high-growth areas like Military, Defense, and Aerospace.
  • Develop realistic project schedules and provide prompt, professional responses to customers to support on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with other Eurofins E&E personnel to deliver integrated testing solutions.
  • Maintain efficient, neat, safe, and presentable facilities in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to company policies, customer service standards, and support laboratory audits and accreditations.

Qualifications
Basic Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (preferred); High school diploma or GED required.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in a laboratory environment, with hands-on expertise in environmental simulation testing (climatic, mechanical, dynamic) across commercial, industrial, and ideally some Military, Defense, or Aerospace applications. Familiarity with standards such as IEC, ASTM, MIL-STD-810, RTCA/DO-160, or equivalent is highly valued.
  • Experience working with diverse cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, sales/marketing) preferred.
  • Business-to-business sales or customer-facing technical experience, particularly in testing services, preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for client engagements, audits, or industry events.
  • Valid driver's license and physical dexterity/mobility to travel via car or airplane and perform all clerical and lab-related functions inherent to the position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
