Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) survey lab assistant positions for the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Undergraduate Student Technical Assistant performs routine to complex technical tasks in support of research or administrative work which includes laboratory, green house, field plot, data collection, simple analysis, or the care and maintenance of animals.

Position Duties:

100% - Assist CCE Faculty with the care and maintenance of surveying laboratories. Duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Performing instrument calibrations/adjustments

  • Cleaning/organizing equipment and lab lecture rooms

  • Checking out/in equipment to students

  • Documenting inventory of all equipment (new/old)

  • ULA duties to include mentoring, checking off work, assisting with holding office hours, assisting with labs, attending TA meetings. These duties will vary depending on the specific course requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

Required Qualifications:

Student must have taken or is currently taking a surveying course within the School of CCE and must complete safety training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference for a CCE student interested in pursuing licensure as a Professional Surveyor and/or is pursuing a career in Geomatics (i.e. surveying and mapping).
