Job Description:

Our work depends on a Lab Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Infrastructure Engineering Services. As a Lab Engineer supporting the Government, you will be a part of a team responsible for daily operations, maintenance, data center design, and the security of lab environments that mirror production.

In this role, a typical day may include:

  • Designing and implementing Windows domain and child domain architectures
  • Analyzing customer functional requirements to develop system requirements specifications and implement designed solutions
  • Guiding customers in formulating requirements, advising alternative approaches, and conducting feasibility studies
  • Designing and defining system architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Providing technical leadership regarding the integration of requirements, design, and technology
  • Integrating new plans, designs, and systems into existing builds
  • Developing system architecture and system design documentation
  • Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of systems engineering management plans and systems integration and test plans
  • Interacting with the Government customers regarding Systems Engineering and technical considerations for associated problems, issues, or conflicts
  • Configure and deploy virtual machines within a VMware environment.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for Active Directory.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in key Active Directory management components.
  • Ensure servers and network systems operate efficiently and without interruption.
  • Configure the management ports on all physical servers to enable remote access.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and network systems within the lab.
  • Install and configure new software and hardware in accordance with specified requirements.
  • Patch and update hardware and software in the virtual infrastructure.
  • Communicate with tenants to resolve concerns and fulfill requests.
  • Deploy and support systems such as RHEL 8/9 and Oracle 8/9.
  • Maintain and upgrade physical and virtual systems regularly.
  • Ensure Infoblox remains up to date and fully operational.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Ansible experience is preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification, training, or work/military experience
  • Familiarity with monitoring solutions, and enterprise security compliance requirements
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of VMWare infrastructure and the deployment of virtual machine instances
  • Experience with the following:
    • Infrastructure engineering
    • Enterprise testing & lab environments
    • Active directory & PKI infrastructure
    • Network administration
    • Data center physical server racking and configuration
    • Linux administration
    • Infoblox IPAM administration
    • Procurement testing & approval of enterprise lab tools

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
