Job Summary

Performs basic and intermediate vascular lab exams. Provides quality patient care using vascular lab equipment. Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and outpatient settings as the schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services. integrity and teamwork.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.

  • Performs basic and intermediate vascular lab studies. Performs vascular lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible. Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.

  • Participates in the daily workflow by watching the technologist worklist to ensure timely patient care. Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable. Participates in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.

  • Operates all vascular lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS. Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines. Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service. Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen. Performs monthly deep cleaning of equipment and maintains appropriate logs.

  • Attends staff and departmental meetings as well as educational conferences. Participates in the discussions. Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Graduate of a formal/Director approved Sonography program

  • Experience - One (1) year Vascular Sonography experience performing non-invasive vascular lab studies. Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.

In Lieu Of

  • In lieu of the minimum requirements noted above, five (5) years of dedicated vascular lab experience may be considered.

  • Team members employed in this job on 11/08/2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARDMS- RVT or CCI(RVS)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Computer skills (word processing)

  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics

  • Medical terminology preferred
