Job description

Overview
This position will be half-time (20 hrs/wk) and the individual will be responsible for coordination of Chemistry Teaching Lab preparations, and for the performance of monthly safety inspections of science labs on campus. The Lab Coordinator duties will include oversight of day-to-day chemistry teaching laboratory operations and supporting the Chemistry teaching mission. The Lab Coordinator should have good communication skills with students, faculty, and administrative associates.
This is a grant funded (fully soft money) position.

Responsibilities
Lab Coordinator Role:
โ€ข Ordering of chemicals and supplies for Department of Chemistry Teaching Labs
โ€ข Preparing chemical solutions for teaching laboratories
โ€ข Helping with recruitment of chemistry Teaching Assistants (TAs)
โ€ข Training TAs in proper chemical preparation techniques
โ€ข Oversight of stockroom chemical inventories
Health Safety Technician Role
โ€ข Coordinating Hazardous and Biohazardous waste disposal in collaboration with the Campus Public Safety Technician
โ€ข Monthly safety inspections of teaching and research laboratories on campus, along with written feedback on observations
โ€ข Inspections of eye wash and shower stations in teaching and research labs

BS in Chemistry or related discipline (MS Preferred)
