Job Summary
The Nursing Success and Retention Coach is a part-time non-faculty staff member within the School of Nursing that will work with ASN pre-licensure students on the Montgomery campus. An ideal candidate for this position will need to be flexible in their work schedule.
The Nursing Success and Retention Coach will be responsible for developing and conducting holistic activities for at risk students. The role requires frequent engagement with students to promote retention, persistence, and licensure pass rates. The individual will work with nursing students related to areas that involve professionalism, didactic courses, lab skills, and/or clinical performance.
Responsibilities:
• Assists students with setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles and defining steps in education planning.
• Ability to build rapport and trust with students to support successful goal completion; monitors student progress toward goals; conducts follow up with students; and offers advisement as needed.
• Provides assistance to students and instructors to problem solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, perseverance, and attendance.
• Coordinates student referrals to services to help overcome social and economic barriers.
• Develops and presents lessons and/or workshops to promote organization, readiness and skills, study techniques, test taking strategies, healthy lifestyle habits, stress reduction methods, and school-life balance.
• Effective in performing oral presentations in one-on-one, small, and large settings.
• Ability to counsel and coach students to offer assistance.
• Maintains effective relationships with students to build trust and respect.
• Demonstrates problem solving skills.
• Approachability for ease of contact and good listening abilities.
• High degree of organization.
• Flexible schedule that may require meetings during the daytime and/or during the evening hours.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. An associate or bachelor's degree;
2. An active, unencumbered Alabama registered nurse license or a multistate registered nurse license issued by a party state;
3. Professional nursing practice experience

Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties?
