Job description

Veterinary Technician

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department in Lafayette!

Pay Range: $22 - $45 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday Daytime - need to be available for scope on-call rotation

As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will...

  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
  • Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
  • Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
  • Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
  • Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.
