Job description

The Cath Lab Tech Intern is a structured workforce pipeline position designed to transition students and recent graduates from accredited cardiovascular and radiologic technology programs into permanent Cath Lab Technologist roles. This developmental role provides formalized training, competency-based progression, and mentorship within invasive cardiovascular procedural areas. Under the supervision of Registered Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists (RCIS), Cath Lab Trained Scrub Technologists, and Cath Lab leadership, the Intern participates in diagnostic and interventional procedures while completing a defined orientation and certification pathway. The program is designed to build internal workforce capacity and support succession planning within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and related procedural areas. The program offers flexible
hours to accommodate educational obligations. Minimum requirements are 8 hours per week and a maximum of 24 hours per week.

1. Assist with preparation and setup of cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and structural heart procedures.
2. Support physicians and advanced practice providers during invasive procedures.
3. Perform imaging functions under supervision consistent with educational pathway and regulatory standards.
4. Assist with hemodynamic monitoring and documentation.
5. Maintain sterile field and procedural workflow.
6. Prepare and position patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
7. Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection prevention protocols.
8. Participate in call coverage as competency milestones are achieved.
9. Complete required educational modules and certification preparation activities.


Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

  • Registry eligible for ARRT, RCIS, certified surgical technologist or other applicable credential (if pathway requires).
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be within one (1) year of graduation from an accredited:
    • Radiologic Technology program
    • Cardiovascular Technology program
    • Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist program
    • Electrophysiology Technology program
    • Interventional Radiology program
    • Surgical Technologist program
