Job description

Allometrics is an ISO 17025 accredited calibration company that sells, calibrates, certifies, services and repairs process instrumentation, weighing devices, controlled environments, measuring and test equipment for laboratories in a wide range of industries. Allometrics is seeking a Cal Lab Apprentice Technician to join our growing company and learn the calibration trade under the mentorship of our experienced team.

A successful candidate must possess strong writing, speaking, and communication skills, as well as good organizational and customer service skills, and a problem-solving mindset. Strong attention to detail, ability to focus, technical and/or mechanical aptitude, and solid math skills are vital. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Above all, the apprentice must demonstrate adaptability, a willingness to learn new skills, receptiveness to coaching, and the ability to effectively follow direction from senior technicians.

Responsibilities of a Cal Lab Apprentice Technician may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:

  • Provide calibration, preventive maintenance and repair under the tutelage of a qualified Cal-Lab technician.
  • Support all equipment serviced by Allometrics, including various gravimetric, volumetric, pressure, temperature, and electrical measuring devices.
  • Expectation of travel and overnight stays.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Ideal candidate will have an interest or exposure in one or more of the following:

  • Electronics – Temperature
  • Electrical – Airflow
  • Pressure – Mass (Gravimetric)

Job requirements:

  • 100% travel, plus periodic-frequent overnight stays
  • Aptitude for new technology and navigating various software menus.
  • Lifting of various test equipment with weight ranges between 6 and 50 lbs.
  • Pushing and pulling a tool cart up to a weight of 200 lbs.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, with willingness to develop further.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and use various modes of transportation, including but not limited to ground and air transportation, with overnight stays as required.
  • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic.
  • Quick learner.
  • Self-starter.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school coursework a plus.
