Description
Kentucky Horse Park is seeking qualified applicants for the position of KHP Gift Shop Manager in the Visitor'sCenter.
Located within minutes of downtown Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,224-acre working horse farm,equine theme park, and internationally renowned equine competition facility. Founded in 1978, the Park isowned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and attracts over 1 million visitors from around the worldannually. The Park includes a 260-site campground, the Alltech and Rolex arenas, the International Museum ofthe Horse, a Smithsonian affiliate, and much more.
The ideal candidate will be a hard worker, have professional office experience, have customer service skills,and work well with a team or on their own.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible for the overall operation, sales, and administration of the Gift Shop
  • Responsible for purchasing merchandise for resale, organizing merchandise displays
  • Maintain and manage inventory, including fixed and satellite and temporary locations
  • Develop and implement an online gift shop, including posting on website
  • Responsible for training staff in operation of point-of-sale system and operation of cash drawers
  • Provide backup support to Visitor Center activities and functions
  • Ensuring customers are provided with quality service; resolve complaints or issues that arise
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High School graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of experience managing a retail business.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:College or vocational education with a major in sales, marketing, ora related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-to-year basis.
