About the Role:
Chanel, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Anti-Counterfeiting Counsel to join our U.S. Legal Department in New York City. In partnership with the U.S. Head of Intellectual Property, you will safeguard the integrity of the House-protecting brand equity, craftsmanship, and client trust by leading the U.S. anti-counterfeiting program across online/digital and brick-and-mortar environments. You will be a trusted advisor to key stakeholders and manage external partners to drive enforcement. This role also owns reporting and KPIs, budget stewardship, and the development of scalable processes and a high-performing team in a rapidly evolving counterfeiting landscape.
What impact you can create at CHANEL
Core Program
  • Develop and execute the U.S. anti-counterfeiting strategy and annual objectives to protect the brand and client trust, aligned with global and regional priorities.
  • Own program governance, including matter intake and prioritization, playbooks, escalation paths, and continuous improvement of processes and tools.
  • Define and track KPIs and dashboards to measure enforcement impact, risk trends, and operational performance.
  • Manage program budget; ensure cost-effective deployment and oversight of investigators, service providers, and outside counsel.
  • Leverage technology, platform tools, and data (including AI-enabled solutions) to improve detection, prioritization, and enforcement outcomes.
  • Exploring new and innovative ways to protect the Brand, including new technology.
  • Keep internal stakeholders apprised of brand protection efforts and matters of significance.

Online / Digital Enforcement
  • Lead enforcement across e-commerce marketplaces, social platforms, domains, and emerging digital channels-using data and technology to identify, investigate, enforce our rights and mitigate risk.
  • Oversee notice-and-takedown workflows and vendor performance; optimize operating models to balance automation with strategic legal oversight.
  • Partner with global and regional teams to strengthen platform relationships, harmonize standards and tooling, and scale best practices.

Brick-and-Mortar Enforcement
  • Direct investigative strategy and enforcement planning for physical-location counterfeiting, partnering closely with internal teams and outside service providers.
  • Maintain relationships with investigators and outside counsel to ensure consistent execution, high-quality reporting, and timely escalation of priority matters.

People Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team currently consisting of one Legal Counsel and one Senior Paralegal by setting priorities and goals, clarifying roles, and building capability through feedback and training.
  • Foster a culture of agility, curiosity, sound judgment, and collaboration so the team can respond quickly to changing priorities and complex enforcement challenges.

Stakeholder Partnership, Training, and External Engagement
  • Advise internal teams on anti-counterfeiting efforts, risk, incident response, and escalation-enabling consistent, well-calibrated decision-making.
  • Design and deliver training, communications, and reference materials to improve counterfeit awareness, evidence integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Represent Chanel with external stakeholders (e.g., trade associations, law enforcement, government agencies, and industry peers) to advance brand protection priorities.

  • Deep understanding of technology used for counterfeit detection, online platforms, notice-and-takedown procedures, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to work proactively and reactively, independently, and reliably on multiple projects under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

Position Logistics:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school; admission to at least one U.S. state bar (New York preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in trademarks and anti-counterfeiting, including investigations, civil enforcement, and experience working with law enforcement and/or criminal matters. Ideally, experience working in both a law firm and in-house environment.
  • Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the our New York Corporate Office.

Compensation:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $ 134,900 through $195,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
