Job description

Position Title: Assistant Cross Country Coach

Supervisor: Athletic Director

Salary: $1,300 ($650 fall semester, $650 spring semester)

Job Type: Part-Time

Job Summary: The Assistant Cross Country Coach supports all aspects of the men's and women's cross-country program. The Assistant Coach will help build and sustain a competitive program while fostering academic success, leadership, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

ยท Associate's degree required or an equivalent combination of training and coaching experience.

ยท Successful coaching and recruiting experience required, at the collegiate level is preferred.

ยท Current CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification.

ยท Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities:

ยท Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting team practices, training sessions, and race preparation.

ยท Provide instruction in cross country training principles, running mechanics, race strategy, and injury prevention.

ยท Assist with developing individualized training plans that support student-athlete performance and long-term development.

ยท Support meet-day operations, including travel, warm-ups, race management, and post-race evaluations.

ยท Help monitor student-athlete fitness, wellness, and conditioning while promoting healthy training habits.

ยท Build and maintain positive recruiting relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes throughout Maine and New England.

ยท Assist with program operations, including equipment management, travel coordination, scheduling, fundraising initiatives, and team events.

ยท Maintain compliance with institutional, conference, and athletic department policies while fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture
