Job description

Position Title: KVCC Assistant Menโ€™s Basketball Coach

Supervisor: Athletic Director

Salary $2,000, ($1,000, fall semester, $1,000, spring semester)

Job Type: Part-Time

Job Summary: The Assistant Menโ€™s Basketball Coach supports all aspects of program. The Assistant Coach will help build and sustain a competitive program while fostering academic success, leadership, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associateโ€™s degree required or equivalent combination of training and coaching experience
  • Successful coaching and recruiting experience are required; at the collegiate level is preferred
  • Current CPR/AED certification, or ability to attain
  • Clean driving record required

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading team practices, workouts, and player development sessions.
  • Teach basketball fundamentals, team systems, and offensive/defensive strategies.
  • Support game preparation through scouting, film breakdown, and opponent analysis.
  • Assist with game-day coaching, bench management, and in-game adjustments.
  • Promote strength, conditioning, and injury prevention for student-athletes.
  • Help identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit KVCCโ€™s culture.
  • Build and maintain recruiting relationships with coaches across Maine and New England.
  • Support student-athlete academic success, retention, personal growth, and connection to campus resources.
  • Assist with program operations including travel, equipment, scheduling, and events/camps
  • Maintain compliance with institutional and athletic policies while fostering a professional, inclusive, and respectful team culture.
