In the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will become part of a fast growing global company offering turnkey integrated solutions for material handling, order fulfillment, and inventory control.
The Mechanical Engineer will function as a key player within the project team to deliver the Automated Material Handling Systems per the technical specifications, fully documented, tested, and within the Project Schedule. The Mechanical Engineer will manage the AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks drawing sets for large projects as part of a multifunctional team including Project Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls, System Integration, etc.
 

Make an impact
  • Will function as a key player within a project team to deliver the system, fully tested and documented to site to the required specifications and project timing.
  • Design and specify solutions to enable a proper technical execution.
  • Control and coordinate the Design interfaces of the different subsystem components
  • Carry out Hazard analysis.
  • Participate in subcontractor audits and support the purchasing process.
  • Create Request For Quotes (RFQs) for all equipment and services for the project including Technical Specifications, Drawings, etc.
  • Technically Review Supplier Offers, develop the technical review, and hold review meetings with the Project Team to finalize path toward Contract Award.
  • Technically manage Supplier throughout the project cycle.
  • Plan on-site assembly and commissioning.
  • Conduct in-house and factory acceptance tests.
  • Focal point for on-site technical & commissioning issues.
  • Perform Quality checks for on-site installations.
  • Coordinate, conduct and document tests for subsystems and integrated systems.
  • Create and maintain good relations with customers and suppliers.
  • Company representation at both internal and external meetings.
  • May be required to provide on the job training for internal and external resources.
  • May be required to provide technical support to sales department and assist in the preparation and presentation of sales tenders and proposals.
  • Ability to travel as required and spend extended periods on site.
     
What you need to succeed
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or System Engineering
  • Courses in automated material handling, logistics applications
  • Computer literate in all MS Office products and AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Automation and Control Systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and finalize the technical details and interface of subsystem design provided by external and internal suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide "attention to detail" of a high-tech installation in a similar environment.
  • Able to take ownership of assigned project responsibilities and deliver a successful project outcome to customer expectations
  • Cost calculation of contract variation for different solution designed and offered by the Project Manager
  • Ensure that the mechanical, electrical and controls aspects of the project are carried out in a manner which is in line with applicable codes and Swisslog Standards Including Occupational Health and Safety

Desired:

  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD design, drafting, modeling, and engineering software
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical site installation, commissioning, and testing.
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Automation - specifically Control Systems for automated material handling equipment.
  • MS Project, Solid Works (or other 3D-modelling software)
  • Experience with racking applications, sprinklers and building interfaces.
  • Experience in applicable codes and regulations NEC, OSHA, ASME
  • Understanding of warehouse management software products.
  • Application knowledge of Automated Material Handling Equipment such as Autostore or Light Goods Conveyors
