This role in summary
The Maintenance III is a senior, multi-craft industrial maintenance role responsible for advanced troubleshooting and repair of complex manufacturing equipment, including CNC machinery (e.g., Fanuc, Chiron) and robot automation (Fanuc, Kuka)
Your responsibilities will include
  • Advanced Troubleshooting and Repair: Analyze, diagnose, and repair complex system failures (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls) across all industrial manufacturing equipment using WCM standards. This includes troubleshooting and performing work on CNC equipment (Fanuc/Chiron/Kitamura/Hardinge/Wasino/Amada) and robot automation handling/basic program touch-ups/troubleshooting (Fanuc/Kuka).
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Execute all CMMS-generated preventative maintenance (PM) and assigned work orders, including calibration, rebuilds, and replacement of worn components to minimize downtime. Collect and analyze data using predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., Infrared cameras, shaft alignment tools, ultrasonic units) to diagnose potential machine failures and develop corrective plans. Service all machinery and equipment with proper lubricants, and diagnose/repair complex lubrication systems.
  • Technical Leadership and Coordination: Direct and assist apprentices and other crafts in completing repairs and projects. Provide technical direction and training to craftspeople, utilizing PdM and other specialized technologies. Assist with Maintenance Planning activities, including writing detailed job plans, Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), and coordinating repair work with Production and Engineering.
  • Fabrication and Tooling: Construct, modify, maintain, calibrate, and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Perform layout, cutting, bending, drilling, punching, welding, and general metal fabrication for equipment and facility repairs.
  • Mobile Equipment Service: Operate and service mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, vertical lifts, cranes) and service/repair mobile equipment and associated hydraulic/pneumatic control systems.
  • Safety and WCM Documentation: Adhere to all safety practices, including LOTO certification. Accurately log labor hours, parts used, PM data, and task descriptions into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Drive continuous improvement using WCM methodology (creating EWO's, SMP's, MPI's, and driving completion of Kaizen's).

Minimum requirements
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 35-50 pounds.
  • Ability to work from elevated heights, including using ladders, raised platforms, and in confined space areas.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, use hands to handle, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary licenses for mobile equipment (PIT, Overhead Crane, Personnel Lift).
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, loud noises, and vibration.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • An Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Completion of a four-year apprenticeship/technical program or State Journeyman Card in a relevant trade (e.g., Tool & Die, Millwright, or Industrial Maintenance Technician) is required.

OR
  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented, multi-craft industrial maintenance or tool room experience, or equivalent manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Advanced working knowledge of AB PLC logic, Relay logic, and Servo-driven equipment; proficiency in troubleshooting 480 and low (24) voltage electrical systems, including VFDs, power supplies, relays, and contacts.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, systems, and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and part drawings/blueprints.
  • Proficient use of precision measuring instruments and machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders).
  • Advanced knowledge of CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Maximo) for work order management, PM, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) tools and data analysis (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
  • Experience with robot automation handling and CNC equipment.
