Job Title: Electrical Engineer (PLC / Ladder Logic / Controls) Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: This role supports mission-critical electrical and control system sustainment and modernization efforts within a DoD environment. The Electrical Engineer will provide hands-on expertise in PLC-based control systems, Ladder Logic development, and electrical design, while serving as an understudy to a retiring government engineer to ensure continuity of system knowledge. The position is fully remote and supports long-term lifecycle sustainment and modernization of existing control architectures. Responsibilities: * Develop, modify, and maintain Ladder Logic for programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
* Integrate and support Allen-Bradley PLC platforms using Rockwell Automation software tools.
* Perform system integration using Studio 5000 / CompactLogix environments (version 21 or later).
* Develop and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.
* Support Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, review, and troubleshooting.
* Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues at the system and subsystem level.
* Assemble, test, and validate electrical and control system assemblies.
* Support LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems.
* Provide technical knowledge transfer and documentation in support of workforce succession.
* Support limited FPGA-based integration as required (non-primary responsibility).
* Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership. Qualifications: Required: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Must have experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
* Must have experience with Power Design.
* Proven experience developing and troubleshooting Ladder Logic-based control systems.
* Experience using Rockwell Automation software tools (e.g., Studio 5000 / CompactLogix).
* Experience developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
* Experience troubleshooting electrical and control system issues.
* Experience assembling and testing electrical or control system hardware.
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
* Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
* Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance. Desired: * Experience with LabVIEW-based control systems.
* Experience with FPGA integration or mixed FPGA/PLC environments.
* Experience supporting legacy control systems and modernization efforts.
