Job description

In addition to providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health outreach services to enhance the health and well-being of students and the College community, the Associate Director is responsible for supporting the administrative and clinical oversight of Counseling: including clinical supervision, group programming oversight, special initiative development and implementation, safety planning and care coordination across Center for Health and Wellness offices, Student Affairs, the institution, and community partners in an inclusive, collaborative, and integrated Center for Health and Wellness. 

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $88,197 - $103,347 per year.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides psychological counseling, crisis intervention, and clinical case management support for students  
  • Implements appropriate assessments and clinical interventions  
  • Supports the Director in the overall oversight of clinical services including: group program and outreach curriculum, Organization and implementation of urgent and transitional care services and systems, safety planning, crisis interventions focused on short-term interventions and skill-building opportunities, and clinical collaboration with community agencies  
  • Facilitates groups, workshops, and training series to meet Counseling's outreach goals  
  • Builds relationships with campus community to reduce stigma and increase help/service seeking  
  • Completes timely documentation in the EHR according to best practices and Counseling policies  
  • Serves as a member of the Counseling leadership team to process and address issues related to risk, referrals, confidentiality, and crisis management  
  • Participates in Counselor on call rotation, committee work, and pre-licensure intern supervision as assigned  

Requirements

  • Clinical experience in urgent care, crisis management, hospital-based emergency care, safety assessment or similar  
  • Demonstrated use of multicultural approaches to clinical care and proven record of successful work with clients and stakeholders  
  • Strong knowledge of the social, psychological, and physical developmental stages of college students  
  • Commitment to addressing intersections of multiple identities and their related health outcomes  
  • Successful collaborator with cross-discipline colleagues to support positive outcomes including administrative and non-clinical staff  
  • 5 years of experience including supervision  
  • Master's degree required in counseling, psychology, social work, or related clinical field with current, or eligible to obtain within 6 months, Vermont licensure  

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity tools. Regularly moves about inside the office and requires regular cross-campus and cross-town travel. Schedule flexibility is required including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to attend events and facilitate programming according to the academic calendar.
