Job description

Kitchen Prep Assistant- (Full-Time)

Willow Valley Communities is currently seeking a Kitchen Prep Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering highquality meals to our Residents and guests. In this role, you’ll assist cooks with food preparation, salad bar setup, and buffet and cookstation prep while working across a variety of dining venues, including buffets, menustyle dining, country kitchens, display cooking stations, and tray lines.

Compensation

Starting at $15.00/hour, with additional pay based on experience


Key Responsibilities
  • Read menus, gather food items from storage areas, and follow standardized recipes to assist with meal preparation
  • Accurately measure and mix ingredients
  • Observe and test foods by tastetesting and taking temperatures, following proper ServSafe procedures and guidelines
  • Perform a variety of food prep tasks such as measuring, washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, and portioning
  • Use standard kitchen equipment to steam, sauté, bake, broil, and grill
  • Set up, monitor, and refill food stations, ensuring quality and adequate quantities throughout the meal period
  • Communicate proactively with cooks to maintain smooth and timely service in menu, buffet, or display cooking settings
  • Maintain clean and organized food stations, kitchens, and work areas using established cleaning guidelines and checklists
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely to protect yourself and prevent damage
  • Complete assigned cleaning duties as part of the kitchen cleaning schedule

Qualifications
  • Professional, neat, and clean appearance with a positive attitude
  • Regular interaction with Residents and guests requires an engaging personality, enthusiasm, and energy throughout each shift
  • Less than a high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Hours
  • 40 hours per week
Schedule
  • 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday!
