Job description

The Media Solutions Engineer 2 is a senior position responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and operation of Hallmark Media’s content management and supply chain systems. This role collaborates with both technical and business teams to automate workflows, integrate media systems, and ensure reliable content delivery to all consumer platforms.

The position works closely with internal business units—including Distribution, Media Solutions Engineering, Technical Operations, Media IT, and Corporate IT—to facilitate the proper implementation, availability, and operation of media management systems. As a member of the Technical Operations team, you will help manage Hallmark Media’s content library, post-production, and media supply chain systems. Key responsibilities include designing technical solutions for business process automation and system integration to create a unified media ecosystem that supports all Hallmark Media consumer endpoints.

The salary range for this job is between $98,500-$133,100. Salary rate will take into consideration several factors including location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the development of solutions that utilize our existing media systems to meet business requirements, helping to identify technological gaps and opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Media Services Solutions Team and other departments within Technical Operations, IT & Distribution, contributing to the execution of functional designs, including support of our business partners automation at Comcast Technical Services and Amagi.
  • Assists related teams in meeting infrastructure requirements and participates in leading support responses and escalations for system issues.
  • Supports change control processes for all media systems, including coordinating outages, deployment windows, upgrades, and system installations.
  • Contributes to quality assurance (QA) and testing efforts by assisting in the coordination, writing, and execution of test plans for software applications.
  • Supports the development of system monitoring techniques and reporting methods to provide issue notifications, performance trends, and metrics for management.
  • Addresses user requests and issues related to media management systems, directing users to appropriate support teams, or resolving issues directly when possible.
  • Aids in training staff on systems and supports the development of application support strategies and coverage schedules.
  • Utilizes project management methodologies, such as Agile, to organize tasks and ensure the delivery of projects that align with business needs.
  • Participates in documenting and analyzing user stories/requirements, acceptance criteria, and success factors to ensure proposed solutions are effective.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Media/Broadcast/Information technology and operations.
  • Proven experience with SOAP/REST APIs and scripting languages & a willingness to expand these skills in integration workflows is essential.
  • Proven experience in enterprise-level Media Asset Management systems is sought.
  • Exhibits a basic understanding in video production/post-production technologies, workflows, and systems such as Helmut PAM, Adobe Suite, Amberfin, AWS Media Convert and Telestream Vantage.
  • Prior experience in Windows and Linux Server Administration
  • Exhibits a basic knowledge of relational databases.
  • Exhibits an understanding of storage systems, including Cloud, SAN, NAS, and LTO.
  • Exhibits basic knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/UDP protocols.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred AWS Certification in one of Solution Architecture, DevOps, Systems Engineer
  • System thinkers who understand not only how a code works and looks but also how it fits into the larger ecosystem of services.
  • Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and manage expectations.
