Wine & Spirits Clerk Job Description:

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To provide stocking and merchandising support for the Wine & Spirits Department and to contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.

NATURE AND SCOPE: Emphasis in this position is on ensuring quality customer service, stocking, cutting and display building in order to ensure maximum product availability and department sales. This position requires ongoing walking, moderate to heavy lifting, operation of pallet jack, use of box cutter, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills and reading. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Wine & Spirits Manager or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure quality customer service
    • Answer questions about products and direct customers to what they may be looking for
    • Assist customers with product location. Take the customers directly to the item they are looking for
  • Perform aisle stocking and display building and maintenance
    • Complete assignments in allotted time
    • Handle product carefully to avoid damage
    • Use proper case cutting technique
    • Ensure correct placement of stock
    • Rotate and face product
    • Work display to shelf items
  • Perform cutting and sorting of wine & spirit stock loads
    • Complete assignments in allotted time
    • Handle product properly to avoid damage
    • Sort stock by aisle, load onto cart or pallet in stable manner and move to correct aisle
    • Maintain production counts by pallets and/or cases
  • Perform clean-up of sales floor and backroom
    • Pick up and compact cardboard, stack pallets, clean up spills, store overstock, dispose of used razor blades in designated areas
  • Miscellaneous
    • Answer and respond to department phone calls in a timely and consistent manner
    • Assist clerks with price checks and product replacement
  • Follow all store and department policies and procedures
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
