About the Role

We are seeking a motivated R&D Technologist to join our Animal Health and Pet Nutrition team. This role supports the development, manufacturing, testing, and commercialization of innovative pet flavors and palatants used in pet food, treats, supplements, and animal health products. The successful candidate will work in a hands-on laboratory and pilot plant environment, supporting product development projects from concept through commercialization. This role is ideal for someone with experience in flavor formulation, powder blending, food ingredients, pet nutrition, or excipient manufacturing who enjoys both technical and manufacturing-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manufacture prototype formulations for pet flavors and palatants.
  • Execute batch manufacturing activities following Master Batch Records (MBRs).
  • Support flavor and palatant development projects through formulation, blending, and process optimization.
  • Assist scientists in evaluating and improving product performance.
  • Conduct analytical and bench-top testing of prototypes and finished products.
  • Coordinate testing with analytical laboratories and perform self-service testing as required.
  • Collect, analyze, and document technical data accurately.
  • Prepare customer and internal R&D samples.
  • Package, label, and document samples according to company procedures.
  • Support customer requests and product evaluations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Animal Science, Sensory Science, or related scientific discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in flavor formulation, food ingredients, powder blending, pet nutrition, nutraceuticals, or pharmaceutical excipients.
  • Strong math and calculation skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience with pet food, pet treats, or animal health products.
  • Knowledge of flavor development and palatant technologies.
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or pilot plant environments.

The pay range for this position is $47,900-$78,750 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
