PART-TIME (EVERY OTHER WEEKEND POSITIONS) - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER ADVOCATE - CAMBRIDGE, MN

Would you like to support and empower individuals in a domestic violence shelter setting? Are you passionate about nurturing connections and providing trauma-informed care? The Shelter Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, direct service, and systems advocacy for individuals residing in a domestic violence shelter setting. It is expected that the Shelter Advocates' job performance will incorporate the practice and promotion of Family Pathways' guiding principles: trust, collaboration, communication, integrity, respect, positivity and creativity.
Who You Are:

  • Capable of providing support, advocacy, crisis intervention, information, and referral to callers on a 24-hour crisis line, while also assessing calls for appropriateness.
  • Knowledgeable about providing a Primary Advocate approach, facilitating case planning and coordinating personal/legal advocacy for residents, while also collaborating with staff to review cases and make recommendations.
  • Able to complete intake forms with all new residents within 24 hours of entry into the shelter; orient residents to the shelter facility; explain expectations of residents in the shelter, and inform residents of services offered.
  • Excited to plan resident groups and activities: support, parenting, illness management, house meetings, etc., as needed and directed.
  • Experienced with helping residents hone skills such as problem-solving, crisis management, conflict resolution, and de-escalation, in addition to cultivating a welcoming, peaceful, healing environment for residents.
  • Able to provide transportation for residents when necessary.

What You Get in Return

  • Starting Salary: $18/Hour with an additional $1/Hour shift differential for hours worked between 12 am - 6 am.
  • Available Part-Time Position(s)
    • 1 - Every other weekend, Friday and Sunday.
    • 1 - Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday. 
  • Benefits: Family Pathways offers competitive pay and benefits to our eligible employees. Benefit eligibility is based on average hours worked per week. Benefits offered include health insurance with optional HSA, dental, vision, employer-paid group life term insurance, supplemental group term life insurance, AD&D, long-term disability, short-term disability, critical illness, accident insurance, employee assistance program, and retirement plan with an employer match. In addition to these benefits, Family Pathways offers full-time employees a competitive paid time off package, which includes paid holidays and floating holidays.
