Classification SummaryChisago County Health and Human Services has a vacancy for a full-time Social Services Supervisor - Child Protection Supervisor position.
Performs difficult work supervising program operations and related staff for the Child Protection Division, delegating staff work assignments, screening intakes, consulting with staff and attorneys on case preparation and presentation, providing guidance to employees, assisting with the development and compliance with the department budget, completing required reports, and related work. Work is performed under the general direction of the Health & Human Services Family Services and Economic Supports Manager.
Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel.

Examples of DutiesMinnesota Merit Examples of Duties
• Selects qualified personnel for the unit.
• Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
• Evaluates staff performance and recommends appropriate action.
• Holds individual conferences with staff and interprets agency/state policies, rules and regulations.
• Reviews case records to ensure that agency and state policies, rules and regulations are adhered to and proper social work practices are being observed.
• Monitors and evaluates the provision of client services in the program area.
• Fosters effective community-agency relations and organizes community projects.
• Participates in community meetings and is responsible for the utilization of community resources.
• Writes and monitors purchase of service contracts with area vendors.
• Interviews clients when special problems arise, listens to concerns, grievances and recommends/takes appropriate action.
• Handles emergency situations when necessary.
• Performs program analysis and needs assessment.
• Monitors budget and keeps management appraised of budget deviations.
• Provides justification for budget deviations to management staff and/or county board.
• Assists in the planning and development of social services budget and provides the justification and rationale to county board regarding social service unit/division budget needs and requests.
• Assists in writing and developing the agency community social service plan.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
Minimum QualificationsMinnesota Merit Minimum QualificationsAn accredited master's degree from an accredited institution in social work or clinical psychology, counseling psychology, human services administration, or closely related field (i.e., applied behavioral sciences) and one year of experience as a social worker.
OR
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in social work from an accredited college/university and two years of experience as a social worker.
OR
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in a closely related field (psychology, sociology, human services) and three years of experience as a social worker.
OR
Baccalaureate degree in an unrelated field from an accredited college/university and five years of experience as a social worker.
Chisago County Preferred Qualifications:A master's degree in social work from an accredited college/university with a supervised field placement providing case management and/or counseling services to individuals and families, in child welfare, and one year of experience as a supervisor in a county setting.
OR
A master's degree in social work from an accredited college/university with a supervised field placement providing case management and/or counseling services to individuals and families, particularly in child welfare, and one to three years as a case manager in a county setting.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in social work with a supervised field placement providing case management services to individuals and families in child welfare, and one to three years of supervisory experience.
OR
A master's or bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in psychology, sociology or closely related field, one to three years of successful supervisory experience in a human services setting.
