Classification Summary
County Health and Human Services, Center City, MN, has part-time or full-time (up to 40 hours per week) County Agency Social Worker - Child Protection Services vacancies available. These positions are Emergency or Temporary appointment hires.
****Flexibility with however many hours an individual will want to work, up to 40 hours per week!
Performs difficult work scheduling and conducting assessments of client needs, conducting home visits and relative searches, guiding clients through offered services and providing referrals, coordinating and planning services, testifying in court and providing documentation, providing case consultation, completing required reports, and related work. Work is performed under the limited supervision of Social Services Supervisor.
The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) partnered with the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Minnesota Association for County Social Services Administrators (MACSSA)and six counties with rural, urban and suburban populations to create the Minnesota Realistic Job Preview for Child Protection

โ€ข Carries a caseload where a need for continuing social casework predominates.
โ€ข Provides counseling to families and individuals.
โ€ข Conducts complex case evaluation for the purpose of assessing problems and determining appropriate types and methods of treatment.
โ€ข Prepares intensive long or short-term treatment plans, which require a fund of casework knowledge.
โ€ข Identifies client situations, which require intensified service and brings to the attention of supervisor for help or referral.
โ€ข Provices adult and child protective services.
โ€ข Provides vocation/employment services.
โ€ข Provides adult and children's mental health services and services to persons with disabilities.
โ€ข Provides or assists in providing services to other cases involving difficult or complex social and financial problems.
โ€ข Interprets programs to clients, refers clients to appropriate community services.
โ€ข Interprets social and emotional factors to others involved in treatment of clients.
โ€ข Prepares social histories with emphasis on psychosocial factors, adoption, or foster home placements.

โ€ข Interprets policies and regulations to clients.
โ€ข Provides casework services for rehabilitation and care of children.
โ€ข Prepares and maintains case records which meet federal, state and local guidelines.

โ€ข Prepares regular and special reports.
โ€ข May provide work direction to social work para-professionals.
โ€ข Participates in in-service training and other staff development activities to increase knowledge of social work processes and skill in application to individual cases.
Minimum Qualifications
Minnesota Merit System Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in social work, psychology, sociology or closely related field.

โ€ข A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in any field and one year of experience as a social worker in a public or private social services agency.

Examination Process
The examination will consist of a rating of training and experience based on the information you provide in your application and your responses to the supplemental questions included in the application process. You must read the questions carefully, answer truthfully, and include any experience claimed in your answers to the supplemental questions in the Work Experience section of your application. Any experience claimed in your answers to the supplemental questions but not included in the Work Experience section of you application will not be credited.
