Job description

Laclede Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a full-time Customer Service Representative in our Waynesville office. Are you passionate about delivering top-notch service with a side of professionalism and a sprinkle of empathy? Do you enjoy helping people, solving problems, and making someone's day a little easier? Then we want you on our team!


As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be on the front lines of our member experience, acting as a liaison between Laclede Electric and the community we proudly serve. This role is more than just answering phones-it's about building relationships, upholding trust, and ensuring our members feel supported, informed, and valued.


What you can expect:

  • Handle service requests (new contracts, transfers, disconnections, etc.) and assist members with payment via phone, in person, or computer
  • Process payments, deposits, memberships, and construction aid charges
  • Monitor and manage delinquent accounts, payment arrangements, and refunds
  • Research unpaid bills and process billing adjustments
  • Educate members on budget billing and energy efficiency
  • Take outage calls, input data, and ensure timely follow-up
  • Issue and monitor service orders for AMI meter readings
  • Review pre-bill reports and meter readings for accuracy
  • Assist with cashier duties, mail processing, archiving, and banking runs as needed

  • Associate's Degree in Communications or Business Administration preferred
  • Equivalent experience considered; previous office experience preferred

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Able to sit, stand, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Strong visual focus
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass a drug screening
