Job description

A well-established engineering firm with over 40 years of experience and recognition as a top systems integrator and ENR-ranked company is seeking a talented Controls Engineer with expertise in Ignition, Cimplicity, and MES/ERP. The Controls Engineer role is a highly technical, client-facing position responsible for delivering end-to-end automation solutions. This includes leading or contributing to system design, programming, integration, and commissioning of industrial control systems. The position requires both hands-on technical expertise and leadership capability, with opportunities to guide junior engineers and manage smaller projects. Success in this role is driven by strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to build lasting partnerships with clients.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 6+ years of experience
  • Required experience with Ignition, GE Cimplicity, and integration with MES/ERP systems
  • Design and implement industrial control systems, including PLC, DCS, RTU, HMI, and SCADA platforms
  • Develop system architecture, electrical schematics, and detailed documentation
  • Program using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, SFC, and standard languages like SQL, .NET, and VBA
  • Configure industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) across wired, fiber, and wireless systems
  • Lead project efforts, mentor junior engineers, and potentially manage smaller projects
  • Work directly with clients to define requirements and deliver tailored automation solutions
  • Utilize platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware, GE, ICONICS, and others
  • Support data integration, visualization, and reporting tools (Power BI, Grafana, APIs)
  • Preferred experience in industries like Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, or material handling

*Ability to travel up to 30% and work in both office and industrial environments
