Job description

This position is open to remote candidates who reside in one of the following states only: Nevada, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Florida, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, or California.

Due to business operations, tax registration, and employment compliance requirements, we are only able to hire individuals who currently live and work in these states. Applicants must maintain residency in one of the approved states as a condition of employment.

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for the configuration, installation, maintenance, backup, and operational support of Epic applications and systems. In close collaboration with the ODBA team, the Senior ECSA troubleshoots, monitors, upgrades, and optimizes Epic environments to ensure reliability, performance, and availability.

This role is recognized as highly skilled and proficient across all facets of Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) protocols. The Senior ECSA performs complex technical work, contributes to measurable team and organizational outcomes, and exercises a high degree of independent judgment. The position operates with minimal supervision and broad latitude in decisionmaking, while serving as a technical leader within the Epic infrastructure domain.

Nature and Scope

  • Design and implement solutions to automate operational tasks and proactively monitor Epic infrastructure.
  • Install, upgrade, and administer Epic Client Systems across production and nonproduction environments, including but not limited to Web, MyChart, BCA, BCA Web, Hyperspace, Hyperspace Web, and Print servers.
  • Apply Epic client pack updates to all installed ancillary applications.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Kuiper or other Epic deployment platforms.
  • Implement and maintain tools required to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of Epic systems.
  • Monitor server activity and system logs to identify and respond to potential security threats or breaches.
  • Perform file system management and routine system maintenance activities.
  • Assist with configuration, integration, and ongoing support of thirdparty systems interfacing with Epic.
  • Lead and actively participate in the handson technical delivery of infrastructure and application projects.
  • Conduct discovery and analysis to evaluate and document currentstate processes.
  • Develop and present recommendations for improvement based on industry standards, best practices, and operational experience.
  • Build, test, train, convert, and deploy new infrastructure, workflows, policies, and operational processes.
  • Define, track, and document measurable outcomes through KPI analysis and impact reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT teams and operational stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to less experienced team members, as needed.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including operating procedures, technical runbooks, and training materials.
  • Contribute to individual and team development by participating in and/or leading training initiatives and team activities, while sharing knowledge and expertise to support continuous improvement.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively. Requires Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Computer Science. Requires knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and database development. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

 

Experience:

Requires at least 5 years of professional ECSA experience working with one or more healthcare organizations. All Epic ECSA certifications preferred. Experience with scripting (PERL, PowerShell, etc.). Experience in client/server computing. Background in healthcare environment is preferred.

Epic ECSA Certification

Certification in three (3) Epic ECSA module is required.

Candidates must obtain certification in all four designated ECSA areas within 12 months of hire.

Eligible ECSA certification areas include:

    • Web Service Server Administration (Hyperspace Web)
    • Web Service Server Administration – MyChart
    • Web Service Business Continuity Access and Epic Print Service, Web BLOB
    • Web Service Server Administration – Interconnect

Microsoft Certifications (Preferred)

One or more of the following certifications are preferred:

    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
 

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
