Job description

Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a junior software engineer to support software development functions for defense system projects. The successful candidate will have experience with Python or MATLAB and be a fast learner who can quickly become a key contributor to the development of mission-critical, real-time military software applications.

 

Location: Working full-time onsite at Lockheed Martin in Manassas, VA. 

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting design, implementation, and integration and test of new and existing software applications running in a cloud environment.
  • Develop and test algorithms in MATLAB or Python.
  • Investigating and fixing bugs resulting from system testing.
  • Participate in an Agile team including participating in planning, SCRUM, and retrospective meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*

Desired qualifications include:

  • Experience with MATLAB or Python
  • Experience developing containerized applications for cloud-based architectures running Kubernetes
  • Software development for a Linux-based system
  • Experience/knowledge in multiple development languages/environments
  • Experience with submarine combat systems
  • Experience working within a defined (CMMI Level 3 or greater) software development process
  • Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*

*Obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance involves a comprehensive background check.  Candidates are eligible for a clearance if they have demonstrated sound financial management (including good credit) over time, are free of criminal records, have limited foreign contacts or ties, and other factors indicative of a position of trust to protect information sensitive to the U.S. Government.
