These professionals often gain skills through coding bootcamps, self-study, or relevant work experience. They contribute to coding, debugging, and testing software under the guidance of more experienced engineers. Many employers now value practical skills and a portfolio of projects as much as formal education, making it possible to start a software engineering career without a degree.

Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective teamwork or communication skills help you stand out. These skills and qualities are crucial because they demonstrate your ability to contribute to projects and adapt in a fast-evolving technical environment.

What opportunities for mentorship and skill development are typically available for junior software engineers without a formal degree?
