Job description

This Senior Structural Engineer role assumes the overall responsibility of working within the design department to oversee the management and production of structural engineering design services. This role requires a thorough knowledge base of industrial steel & concrete design, including equipment foundations, platforms, pipe racks, material handling systems, rotating equipment, large utilities, and related items. This position will also develop man-hour estimates and work with our preconstruction team to provide material estimates for capital projects.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and contribute to the design and structural analysis of various projects, including commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure developments.
  • Oversee the structural aspects of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Ensure all structural designs meet local and international building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration and implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting their professional development and encouraging collaborative teamwork.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex structural engineering problems with innovative and effective solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, design calculations, specifications, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct structural reviews, audits, and inspections to verify the accuracy and quality of engineering work.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in structural engineering practices, technologies, and software tools, integrating them into project work where appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or similar discipline is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a focus on design and analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural design and analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, ETABS, RISA, Revit, AutoCAD). Familiarity with building codes, standards, and construction methods.
  • Proven track record of working with engineers & designers to produce construction drawings
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina preferred, with capability of reciprocity to other states
