About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Developer with deep expertise in enterprise Java and developing cloudโ€‘native enterprise solutions to support our government and privateโ€‘sector clients. Depending on the engagement, this role may serve as the technical lead for backend or fullโ€‘stack architecture on one of our client engagements, taking ownership of system design and implementation decisions while working closely with end users and other project team members to deliver reliable, maintainable enterprise applications.

Depending on the engagement, job duties may include:
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Javaโ€‘based backend systems composed of independentlyโ€‘deployable microservices leveraging reactive design principles.
  • Architect and implement cloudโ€‘native, distributed systems deployed in containerized, Kubernetesโ€‘based environments.
  • Translate system requirements into scalable technical designs, including service architecture, API contracts, and data models.
  • Lead and participate in projects of varying size and complexity, serving as technical lead when needed.
  • Work with clients and other contractors to ensure new development and modifications donโ€™t negatively affect the broader client environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
  • Contribute across the full stack โ€” including frontโ€‘end development in React โ€” when an engagement calls for it.
  • Write technical documentation, requirements, process flows, and system specifications.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • 8+ years of enterprise software development experience, including experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring other developers.
  • Excellent working knowledge of enterprise Java or equivalent JVM languages (Scala, Kotlin), Spring, Spring Boot, Java build tools such as Maven and Gradle, and microservices architecture, with Akka experience a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying cloudโ€‘native, distributed enterprise systems, including containerized microservices (Docker, Kubernetes), Gitโ€‘based CI/CD pipelines, and a major cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or cloudโ€‘managed databases (e.g., Google Cloud SQL).
  • Experience with messageโ€‘based/eventโ€‘driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology stacks, languages, and frameworks, along with the underlying business processes they support.
  • Ability to work core Alaska business hours (8:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM Alaska Time).

  • Familiarity with event sourcing and CQRS.

  • Prior experience as a consultant, particularly on large enterprise software projects.
