What is a junior recipe developer?

Junior Recipe Developers are entry-level professionals who assist in creating, testing, and refining recipes for cookbooks, food blogs, restaurants, or food companies. They work under the guidance of senior chefs or recipe developers to ensure recipes are accurate, easy to follow, and appealing. Their responsibilities often include researching food trends, preparing dishes, documenting instructions, and helping with food photography or video production. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, with strong attention to detail and creativity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior recipe developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Junior Recipe Developer, you need a solid understanding of culinary techniques, food safety, and ingredient functionality, typically supported by formal culinary education or equivalent experience. Familiarity with recipe management software, digital kitchen scales, and basic food photography tools is often required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills help you excel in developing and testing recipes collaboratively. These skills ensure recipes are innovative, reliable, and appealing, which is crucial for consumer satisfaction and brand consistency.

What are some common challenges faced by junior recipe developers during the recipe testing process?

Senior React Native Developer (on-site) - Plano

Welcome to Ziosk, where we empower restaurants to focus on what matters most: the guest experience!

Have you ever used a tablet to pay at a restaurant? We pioneered the pay-at-the-table concept and we’re cooking up a plan to transform the restaurant industry. Our recipe for success has been adapting and growing to exceed the needs of our clients, such as Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Chili’s and more - helping them create an experience that keeps guests coming back. Today we have a full menu of solutions, from hardware to software to cloud-based and AI-driven products, all focused on helping them create the best guest experience possible to grow their bottom line.

Our secret sauce? Our people! Every day, they’re cooking up bold solutions, making Ziosk the leading pay-at-the-table provider in the industry.

Want a seat at our table? Ziosk is looking for a Senior React Native Developer to join our POS & Integrations team. You will design, build, and own the mobile applications powering the guest-facing and operator experiences across thousands of restaurant locations nationwide, while driving architectural decisions and mentoring engineers across the mobile codebase. In this role, you will also leverage AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate coding, debugging, and integration work - while setting the standard for how the team uses AI responsibly to ship faster and more reliably. The successful candidate is self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The Main Course -Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and own React Native applications and native modules for Android, driving architectural decisions across the mobile codebase
  • Develop compelling and user-friendly applications and user interfaces that enhance the Ziosk guest experience
  • Lead code reviews and mentor mid-level and junior engineers on React Native best practices, native bridging, and performance optimization
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate development velocity, while setting team standards for responsible AI-assisted code review and quality gates
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Backend teams to scope technical feasibility and influence roadmap decisions
What You Bring To The Table -Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience developing React Native software applications, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or mentoring capacity
  • Languages: TypeScript (JavaScript ES6), Kotlin, C# - deep proficiency required, including native module development and platform-specific debugging
  • End-to-end ownership of release management, CI/CD pipelines, and rollback strategy for mobile application deployments
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI coding assistants into a professional workflow with sound judgment on when to rely on AI-generated code versus writing/reviewing manually, and ability to instill that judgment in others
Nice to Have:
  • Languages: React, .NET, Java, Objective-C, Swift
  • Cloud experience with Azure and/or AWS
  • Experience leading a team reorg, codebase migration, or platform consolidation effort.
  • Ziosk is an Equal Opportunity employer offering competitive benefits and compensation.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and be able to commute daily to Plano, TX.
