Job description

About Junior
Junior is building the AI operating system for investment research. Our software helps private equity firms, consultants, and financial institutions complete high-stakes research workflows dramatically faster - from diligence and memo writing to market mapping, research synthesis, and strategic analysis.
We're trusted by several of the world's top private equity firms, Big 4 consultancies, and leading financial institutions. We're bootstrapped, profitable, and past $20M in revenue after growing 10x last year. Our engineering team is ~18 strong and doubling to 40 this year - you'd be joining early enough to shape the product and the culture, with enough traction that everything you ship lands in front of demanding, paying customers immediately.
The role
You'll own features end to end - frontend, backend, and the data layer - and ship them on a weekly cadence, not a quarterly one. You'll:
  • Ship quickly, then ship again
  • Design and build new modes of working with computers
  • Work on groundbreaking projects involving LLMs
  • Talk directly to the clients who use what you build, and let that shape product decisions
  • Help shape our engineering culture as the team doubles

Sample projects
  • Build new frontier products to ingest more types of research inputs
  • Build a voice-to-voice survey tool with extremely low latency that autonomously conducts high volumes of research tasks
  • Build a mobile app from scratch in 3 weeks
  • Create segmented knowledge graphs on top of unstructured ⇒ structured data transformations
  • Build an AI-native CRM with deep links into that knowledge graph

About you
  • You have roughly 5+ years of engineering experience, we care about demonstrated competence, not pedigree.
  • You're deep in our stack, not just familiar with it. You can build a polished React/Next.js UI or work through a hard TypeScript problem live, fast, without reaching for a copilot. You're solid on data structures, system design, and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
  • You're high-agency and product-minded. You've owned things end to end, argued for what to build (not just how), and shipped without being handed a spec.
  • You communicate well and want a client-facing role. Our engineers talk to the PE firms and consultancies who use the product.
  • You're NYC-based (or already committed to moving) and excited to work in person, in office, with the team.
  • Bonus: you've built and designed AI-powered products.
  • You feel like you're never building fast enough.

Our interview process (fast: days, not months)
  1. Intro call - background, motivation, mutual fit.
  2. Live technical screen (30 min) - your choice: build a React UI feature or solve TypeScript problems, live in an IDE with one of our engineers. We optimize for speed and completeness over polish, and we run it without AI tools - we want to see how you think.
  3. Onsite - one hour of coding, a system design whiteboard, and a product discussion with one of our PMs.
  4. Offer - decisions are made collectively and quickly.

Benefits
All the usual (competitive pay, equity, private healthcare, 401k), plus the unusual:
  • Gym membership
  • In-office cook
  • Summers working in Greece, by the beach

If you're excited to drive innovation at Junior, we'd love to hear from you!
