Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Rail Systems Engineer - Signals and Train Control to join our Transit group in our Seattle, WA office. 

The ideal candidate is an Electrical engineer with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must have knowledge of core electrical and/or computer engineering concepts and have a minimum of 0-2 years of professional engineering experience. Any experience working in the rail transit industry is an advantage. An EIT registration is desirable but not required. 

As a successful candidate, you will: 

  • Work with an elite group of rail systems design professionals focusing on North American projects, with opportunities in both heavy rail and transit markets 

  • Participate in signals and train control systems design, testing, and commissioning activities on various transportation projects  

  • Collaborate with team members locally and globally to accomplish project objectives 

You bring to the role:  

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline 

  • A minimum of 0-2 years of engineering experience 

  • Experience involving software development, electronics, machinery, or multi-discipline integration 

  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills 

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Multi-tasking on a variety of work assignments while meeting project deadlines 

  • Solving unique problems through self-motivated learning and research 

  • Familiarity and interest in technical writing  

The following skills/experience is a plus: 

  • EIT certificate 

  • Experience in the rail transit industry  

  • Highly developed analytical skills and hands-on experience  

  • Field testing
