Description

About us:

For over three decades, Cirtec Medical has been a leading outsourcing partner for complex medical devices. We specialize in providing comprehensive solutions for Class II and III devices, from design and development to precision components and finished device assembly. Our expertise spans neuromodulation, implantable drug delivery, cardiac rhythm management, structural heart, mechanical circulatory support, and minimally invasive surgical systems.

Our dedicated teams prioritize growth, innovation, and collaboration. We actively seek opportunities for improvement to enhance our support for clients. If you embrace a growth mindset and thrive on challenges, you may be a perfect fit for our team!

Position Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineering Technician plays a key hands-on role in the research, development, and testing of next-generation implantable medical devices. This position emphasizes electrical subsystem builds, circuit-level troubleshooting, automated test equipment (ATE) support, and execution of complex verification activities. The technician works independently with strong technical judgment, collaborates with electrical and systems engineers, and mentors junior technicians while operating within a regulated medical device environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Build, Assembly & Debug

  • Assemble, modify, and troubleshoot electrical and electro-mechanical prototypes, including PCBAs, micro-electronics, sensors, and wiring harnesses.
  • Perform fine-pitch soldering, rework, micro-assembly, and electrical component installation.
  • Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and electrical test specifications.

Automated Test Equipment (ATE) & Electrical Test Support

  • Set up, operate, and maintain automated test systems used for characterization, verification, and reliability testing of implantable devices.
  • Support test fixture design, wiring, build, and debug, collaborating with electrical, firmware, and test automation engineers.
  • Execute electrical tests including signal integrity checks, impedance measurements, power/energy profiling, leakage current testing, and sensor signal validation.
  • Use instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, SMUs, power analyzers, DAQ systems, and DMMs.

Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis

  • Diagnose issues at the circuit, component, and system level.
  • Perform electrical failure analysis on devices and test systems; recommend corrective actions.
  • Document findings with clear electrical data capture, plots, and summaries.

Verification & Regulatory Support

  • Execute electrical portions of V&V test protocols, including long-duration, accelerated life, and environmental testing.
  • Ensure compliant, accurate, traceable documentation in accordance with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, and GDP.
  • Maintain calibration, preventive maintenance, and configuration control for electrical and ATE equipment.

Laboratory & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with electrical, systems, firmware, reliability, and test automation engineers to refine designs and test strategies.
  • Maintain controlled environments such as ESD-protected labs, cleanrooms, and sensitive electrical workspaces.
  • Train junior technicians in electrical lab practices, safe handling of sensitive electronics, and test system operation.

Must Have:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, Electronics Technology, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years’ electrical technician experience, preferably in medical device R&D or similar regulated, high-reliability industries.
  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot from electrical schematics and PCB documentation.
  • Strong experience with oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, automated test platforms, and general laboratory instruments.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across circuits, electrical assemblies, fixtures, and automation hardware/software.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation tools and electronic lab notebooks.

Good to have:

  • Experience with implantable technologies such as neurostimulation, cardiac rhythm management, drug delivery, or sensors.
  • Hands-on experience with automated test platforms (e.g., LabVIEW, Python-based systems, custom ATE).
  • Experience with test fixtures, data acquisition systems, and hardware/software integration.
  • Micro-assembly, fine-pitch soldering, wire bonding, or laser welding experience.
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, accelerated life testing, and environmental stress screening.
  • Cleanroom, ESD-controlled, or hermetic packaging experience.
  • Experience supporting preclinical or bench-top simulated physiological testing.

Salary Range: Competitive salary range between $32-$39/hour based on skills and experience.
