Job Description

We are seeking aCivil Design Engineerto join our Northern California Civil Engineering team inPetaluma, CA. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for civil engineers to further their skills within our collaborative,ย supportiveย environment. You will work on a variety ofย site development andย infrastructure projects withย the opportunity to grow and take on increasing responsibilities.ย 

Our engineers work in dynamic teams with open communication and strong support from senior-level mentors. These teams work directly with our clients on some of the most challenging projects in the region. We promote decision-making at the level closest to the issueย in order toย most efficiently and effectively serve our clients, and to promote professional growth for our staff.ย 

Your responsibilities will include:ย 

  • Projectย Engineerย forย multiple site development and/or infrastructure projects.ย 
  • Lead and Contribute to Projectย Design: Take responsibility for designย ofย civil engineering projects, including site planning, grading, drainage,ย stormwaterย and utility design, under the guidance of senior engineers.ย 
  • Develop Engineering Calculations and Documentation: Prepareย engineeringย calculations, detailed drawings, and specificationsย for site development and infrastructure projectsย using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other tools; support the preparation and review of technical reports.ย 
  • Manage Project Coordination and Compliance: Supportย the design process for multiple projects, interact withย project design teams andย permitting agencies, and utilize internal design team members to delegate design tasks when appropriate to complete project deliverables.ย 
  • Collaborate and Provide Mentorship: Actively participate in cross-functional team meetings, collaborate withย owners,ย contractors,ย consultants,ย and public agencies,ย and provide guidance to junior engineersย to coordinate all aspects of project execution.ย 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineeringย 
  • At least 3ย years of relevant civil engineering design experience, preferably with site development projects.ย 
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification;ย Professional Engineer (PE)ย licenseย preferred.ย 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office Suiteย 
  • Experience with sustainable design practices, meeting Low Impact Development (LID) and hydromodification, and the ability to prepare drainage reports and stormwater control plans.ย 
  • Demonstrated experience inย project design of various site development and/or infrastructure projects.ย ย ย 
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, codes, and industry best-practices.ย 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities and collaboration skills.ย ย ย 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.ย ย ย 
  • Ability toย work onย multiple projectsย and deliverables simultaneously.ย 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.ย 
  • Knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the design and construction of major site development projects in California.ย

Physical Demands and Work Environmentย 

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, orย attending meetings.ย

    Compensation
    The base salary for this role is competitive, with a rangeย of$85,000 - $125,000,ย determinedย by experience, education, and skills.
