Junior Marines are enlisted personnel in the early stages of their career within the United States Marine Corps, typically holding the ranks of Private (E-1), Private First Class (E-2), or Lance Corporal (E-3). Their primary role is to learn the foundational skills of a Marine, follow orders, and support their unit in a variety of duties. Junior Marines undergo continuous training and development, both physically and mentally, to prepare for greater responsibilities as they advance in rank. They are supervised by more senior enlisted Marines and are expected to uphold the core values of honor, courage, and commitment.
