Description AFRL plans and executes U.S. Air Force programs in basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development. Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) provides organizational support to AFRL at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH, including the secure operation and continuous improvement of information systems that support the AFRL mission. The Senior Systems Administrator serves as a senior technical lead in a complex mixed Windows/Linux enterprise environment. This role is responsible for the administration, security, sustainment, and improvement of core infrastructure and hosted services, including server platforms, virtualization, storage, databases, web and application hosting, and identity services. The ideal candidate is an experienced enterprise administrator with broad technical depth, strong operational judgment, and the ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and escalation support in a compliance-driven environment. Key Responsibilities * Serve as a senior systems administrator and technical lead in a mixed Windows/Linux enterprise environment
* Administer and support enterprise infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, databases, hosted services, and related enterprise technologies
* Manage core services such as VMware vSphere, network storage, file services, web hosting, and application hosting
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues affecting infrastructure, integrated services, system performance, and operational availability
* Support infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle management, technology refresh efforts, and service improvement initiatives
* Implement and maintain cybersecurity requirements, including system hardening, vulnerability remediation, PKI integration, and support for Assessment and Authorization activities
* Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and escalation support to administrators and other IT personnel
* Coordinate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, mission partners, and stakeholders to maintain reliable, secure, and interoperable services
* Improve administrative processes, operational workflows, and standard operating procedures
* Support automation and standardization using enterprise administration and configuration management tools Requirements * Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Systems Administrator in enterprise IT environments
* Experience administering complex infrastructure in a mixed-OS enterprise environment, including strong experience with Windows-based enterprise systems
* Experience supporting core infrastructure services such as virtualization, enterprise storage, hosted services, and platform administration
* Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and service issues in an enterprise environment
* Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining secure, compliant systems in accordance with Department of War cybersecurity requirements
* Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor personnel, and serve as a senior escalation point
* Must possess an active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level I certification, such as Security+
* Must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications * Experience with VMware vSphere administration in an enterprise environment
* Experience with enterprise storage administration, including network storage and file services
* Experience supporting databases, hosted web services, and application hosting platforms
* Experience supporting Linux systems in an enterprise environment
* Experience with identity and access management, including Active Directory and related authentication services
* Experience with patching, configuration management, automation, or systems management platforms
* Experience with scripting or task automation using PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools
