Join Brown Sims' Houston office as a Junior Legal Assistant with our Defense Base Act team and become a key member of our busy litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to support experienced litigators in a fast-paced insurance defense practice while working in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

How Will You Make a Difference?

  • Provide litigation and administrative support to three or more attorneys.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and reports.
  • File legal documents electronically in federal administrative law courts.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and monitor court deadlines.
  • Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and other case-related events.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate electronic and physical records.
  • Prepare and organize litigation materials, exhibits, and case documents.
  • Track and process incoming correspondence, court notices, and filings.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
  • Assist attorneys with day-to-day case management and workflow coordination.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments while ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.

What Will You Bring to the Table?

  • 1 - 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a law firm environment.
  • Experience supporting more than one Attorney simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of litigation procedures; insurance defense experience preferred.
  • Experience filing documents electronically.
  • Knowledge of calendaring deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
